Eight Strings & a Whistle is excited to present a program of excellent works by women composers in celebration of Women’s History Month. Works include A Midsummer's Daydream by Zoe Yost; a brand new work, Waves Within a Tide, by Ingrid Stölzel; a lovely trio sonata by Italian Baroque composer Isabella Leonarda; the Tower Sonata by Claire Polin and Nirvana by New York based flutist/composer Pamela Sklar.

Eight Strings & a Whistle is excited to celebrate the diversity of compositions by women.   Come hear the World Premiere of Waves Within a Tide by Ingrid Stölzel, as well as A Midsummer's Daydream by our 2024 8SW Composer Competition winner Zoe Yost.  Pamela Sklar will take us all to Nirvana with the third chapter of her work, Third Eye.  We will present a trio sonata by Italian Baroque composer Isabella Leonarda and a beautiful 20th century trio based on baroque structures by Claire Polin.  Claire's son, violinist Gabriel Schaff joins us for Katherine Hoover's energetic Divertimento.

The Vail Series presents Attacca Quartet | Swasey Chapel at Denison University |  7pm

In the concluding performance of TUTTI Festival, the Attacca Quartet will perform the four winning works from the 2026 TUTTI Festival Call for Scores.  My "Seven Scenes" will close the program.

My song cycle "Burning Bright: Six Songs of William Blake" forms the cornerstone of this program, to be premiered by soprano Genevieve Hahn and myself.  The recital will also include a selection of solo viola repertoire, to be announced.

My final performance as violist of the Fulmina String Quartet (Jeeihn Kim and Mark Chen, violins, and Seoyeon Koo, cello).  We will perform the second movement of Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 6 in F Minor.

Join SFCM Orchestra, Edwin Outwater, and guest vocalist Meow Meow for a gripping performance of Kurt Weill's Seven Deadly Sins, alongside Paul Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis and Carl Maria von Weber's Overture to Der Freischütz, conducted by Chih-Yao Chang.

In another memorable event for SFCM, students will perform alongside the San Francisco Symphony and SFS Chorus in support of our displaced neighbors in Los Angeles.  I have the privilege of singing with the Chorus.

Maestro Kedrick Armstrong, soprano Cristina Villalobos, and I team up for an exciting show this evening, featuring Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's "Bamboula," Bartók's Viola Concerto, and Berlioz's "Les nuits d'été."  Cristina and I are previous winners of the SFCM Voice and Low Strings Concerto Competitions, respectively.

Kristin Pankonin American Art Song Award Showcase | SFCM Bowes Center | 7:30pm

Join us for an evening celebrating art song!  As the first-ever runner-up in SFCM's Pankonin Art Song Award, I will have a song from my cycle, "Burning Bright: Six Songs of William Blake," premiered by baritone Marcus Schaller and pianist Dale Tsang. (Schaller and Tsang are generously stepping in for the original musicians, Oliver Moore and Charles McGregor, who were indisposed by schedule conflicts and illness.) Congratulations to Pankonin Award winner Xingyue Song, whose new cycle will be premiered on this night!
